Like many restaurateurs adapting during the global health crisis, the Southern Table Kitchen initially set up a makeshift canvas tent on its patio for outdoor dining. However, as colder weather approached Westchester County, NY, the need for a more permanent outdoor dining solution became apparent.

In response, our local dealer designed a versatile four-zone adjustable louvered R-BLADE™ pergola that captures the warm summer breeze and provides a cozy refuge during the chilly New York winters. Equipped with built-in infrared heaters and motorized retractable screens, this sophisticated outdoor dining area significantly expanded the restaurant’s seating capacity year-round.

Our team aimed to create a sense of spaciousness in a limited area.

The Southern Table Kitchen features an outdoor patio perfectly suited for a classic pergola structure. Its dimensions, a spacious 48×28 feet, offered a unique opportunity for an innovative design solution.

The design team suggested a new approach by incorporating four interconnected zones of R-BLADE™ pergolas, each with an adjustable louvered roof system. To enhance the expansive patio area, they installed high-capacity fans with integrated lighting to ensure continuous airflow and adequate lighting, regardless of the weather. The pergola’s four zones were also equipped with advanced infrared heaters integrated into the framework, providing adjustable warmth based on external temperatures. Additionally, to protect against the low temperatures of December and January, the pergola featured motorized retractable screens, converting the outdoor patio into a cozy, all-weather dining space capable of hosting year-round dinner parties.

Residential Patio Transformation in Melville, NY

In the heart of Melville, NY, a picturesque hamlet known for its comfortable suburban charm and convenient access to both the dynamism of New York City and the tranquility of coastal towns, a family embarked on enhancing their new home’s outdoor living space. Central to their ambitious project was addressing the intense all-day sun exposure that enveloped their vast gray slate patio. While the space was ideal for children to play and for hosting family evenings around the outdoor kitchen, it required a thoughtfully designed solution to mitigate the sun’s relentless heat.

Sun Protection

The goal was to create an all-weather pergola solution that would cover the vast outdoor space without casting it into shadow. The project incorporated the cutting-edge Azenco R-BLADE™ motorized adjustable louvered roof system within each pergola section. The expansive 6-zone pergola, featuring a motorized louvered roof, provides unparalleled regulation of the area’s exposure to sunlight, offering an optimal balance of sun and shade.

Pergola Orientation

Positioned to open towards the sun, the louvers can be angled to invite sunlight onto the patio or adjusted to provide ample shade during peak sun hours. This strategic orientation also ensures that, when open, the louvers offer unobstructed views of the sky, beautifully contrasting with the natural backdrop of towering trees at the patio’s edge.

Mosquito Protection

Given the proximity to wooded areas, concerns about mosquitoes and insects were addressed with the addition of motorized retractable insect screens integrated into the pergola’s frame. This configuration ensures an enjoyable outdoor dining experience by providing a bug-proof enclosure when needed, complementing the seamless, water-tight louvered roof for a truly all-weather pergola solution.
